CREATE THE LOOK
FOLKLORE
In the central square of a quaint little town, a Christmas tree glitters with a welcoming glow. As the bells ring out to announce the season, people rush along the cobbled streets to gather in celebration. Carols fill the air to tell you with no uncertainty that this is Christmas, and this is Folklore.
The Look
Folklore celebrates colour and pattern, with cosy textiles, traditional hand-painted ceramics and bold embroidery. Think traditional knitted jumpers, frosted berry wreaths and festive cottage tree hangers to bring your own Christmas story to life.
Layer up different materials for homely texture. A knitted throw makes for the ultimate in wintery warmth, with neatly piled felt and fur cushions adding yet more softness to sink into.
Colours focus on traditional reds, detailed with glittering metallic patterns and hand-crafted embroidery. Teal and gold provide accents of depth and shimmer, while hints of white appear as fallen snow against red berries.
The Decorations
The key to creating the Folklore look is to let your imagination take charge. Hark back to the traditional tales of Eastern Europe by introducing decorative touches like little golden gingerbread hearts, clay carol singers and felt-coated songbirds to your festive rooms.
Little house-shaped baubles and wooden cabin tree hangers are perfect for creating your own traditional village scene in miniature, with glittery polka dot toadstools bringing the look to life as if it’s jumped out of a storybook.
The Tree
This 7ft spruce tree is made for the Folklore theme. With its thick, whorled branches and peek-a-boo pine cones, it transforms the room as if you’ve stepped straight into the Folklore village square where the tree stands proudly in the centre.
The Table
Red features prominently as the key colour of the theme, with soft sage, white and blue adding the finishing touches. Dinnerware is thoughtfully painted so as to reveal a festive design once the turkey has been tucked into, inviting a closer look and a touch of curiosity even when dinner has finished.
Folklore tableware is all about the detail. Everything from the breadboard to the tray, the cutlery to the plates, is intricately designed with Eastern European patterns that are instantly recognisable, unequivocally traditional, and completely timeless.
